Something colourful has arrived at Senado Square. The Mak Mak Experience Hub, a brand-new immersive attraction that opened its doors on 10 July and will stay in town until 3 January 2027. Step through the arched entrance and you leave the busy square behind for a world of candy-bright walls, glowing infinity mirrors and interactive games — a place designed not just to be seen, but to be played in. The Hub unfolds across four zones, each one offering a joyful experience.
Mak Mak’s Office: Clocking in with Macao’s hardest-working bird
The first zone offers the world debut of Mak Mak’s office — and it is unlike any office you have ever worked in. A giant keyboard with squishy, oversized keys CTRL, SHIFT and a space bar that cheerfully announces “Mak Mak is working here” invites visitors to clamber into her daily routine, while neon infinity mirrors, rainbow stripes and playful murals turn her nine-to-five into a photo opportunity at every angle. Children slide across the floor to high-five a cut-out Mak Mak in her business blazer; grown-ups, it must be said, are not far behind. It’s a place that captures her passion and style during office hours.
Mak Friends Live Streaming Room
Next door, the Mak Friends Livestreaming Room recreates the set of Mak Mak’s very own broadcast studio, all hot-pink backdrops, retro microphones and speech-bubble props. A winking, waving Mak Mak figure presides over a desk strewn with cheeky placards — “Mak Mak at Here” among them — ready for you and your family to pick up and pose with. The idea is simple and irresistible: step on set, grab a prop and become one of Mak Mak’s buddies on air. In an age when every holiday lives or dies by its photos, this is a room engineered for the perfect shareable moment.

Mak Mak’s Daily Travel: Macau through a bird’s-eye lens
The third zone is where the technology kicks in. Mak Mak’s Daily Travel pairs an immersive VR experience with a fun AI camera, whisking visitors through the city’s many “tourism +” adventures exactly as Mak Mak sees them — from the Ruins of St. Paul’s to sleepy village lanes and glittering resort skylines, all without leaving the building. The AI photo station deserves a special mention: choose a style and strike a pose. Watch the machine cartoon-ify your portrait, then scan a QR code to download the result straight to your phone. Nearby, a message board covered in paper planes lets you leave a note for Mak Mak. Nearby a giant storybook wall turns her daily travels into a walk-in comic strip.
Mak Mak’s Gourmet Station: follow the local’s pocket list
Every great Macau day out ends at the table, and Mak Mak is, by all accounts, a serious food lover. Her Gourmet Station is a warm, cinnamon-orange dreamscape of giant egg tarts, steaming coffee cups, pretzels and almond cookies, built around her personal pocket list of the city’s best bites. The real treat, though, is edible: distinctive light-food eateries and beverage shops from across Macau. Come hungry, and let Mak Mak’s list become the start of your own food crawl through the neighbourhoods around the square.
Games, stamps and a claw machine full of souvenirs
Woven through all four zones is a layer of play. “Find the Hidden Mini Mak Mak” sends sharp-eyed visitors hunting for tiny versions of the mascot tucked around the exhibits; limited-edition themed postcards and a fun stamp-collection await. Anyone who spends any amount at the Hub earns a go on the Digital Claw game. Shelves of cultural and creative Mak Mak merchandise mean nobody has to leave empty-handed.

Mak Mak is the tourism mascot of Macao. Her name comes from the first syllable of “Macao. She’s a black-faced spoonbill, designed with inspiration from the Guia Lighthouse, reflecting her role as an explorer and guide. Her colours—grey, red, yellow, and blue—give a subtle European feel, and her beak is stylized to be smaller and cuter. She wears a Pathfinder Hat also inspired by the lighthouse that stores festival and weather info, a chest badge inspired by the Guia Chapel window, and carries a treasured lantern. Optimistic, mischievous, and adventurous, she loves sharing discoveries with friends.

The Mak Mak Experience Hub runs until 3 January 2027 inside the Ritz Building at Senado Square — you genuinely cannot miss the giant bird on the roof. Opening hours are 12 noon to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and specified dates.
